Miss Cassie

Miss Claire

To dance is the ultimate freedom; to be one with yourself, the earth, the air, the rhythm…

Claire grew up in rural SA, where dance classes were not readily available. However, from an early age she loved to dance. After studying Irish Dancing in her teens and a brief career in ballet (seriously, it was only a term!) at the age of 5, she was instantly drawn to and in love with belly dance after her first class in 2001. Attending workshops with numerous local, national, and internationally established dancers. In 2005 she began performing professionally in troupes and as a soloist for private functions. In 2011, Claire began teaching at Belly Dance Amethyst and in 2017 took over as Director of the school. She has performed around Australia and in the UK, teaching at national belly dance festivals, private classes, schools, and her own studio. Claire is a qualified Meditation and Mindfulness instructor and combines these values into her classes.

Finding affinity with the music and movements, Claire is at ease dancing classical to contemporary/fusion styles of belly dance. Just as she is using wide variety of props such as veil, assaya, sword and voi; Claire’s creativity and ease will inspire you to try something new.

An advocate for individuality, self-expression, and self-awareness; Claire’s calm and inviting nature will encourage you to be yourself and to reach for your own goals, enabling each dancer to feel pride in their own achievements and to overcome fears. Claire takes safe dance practice seriously and learning a strong foundation of technique is at the frontline of her classes. Experiencing the beauty of people from all ages and all walks of life, free to be themselves and sharing a love of dance is what fuels her.
